WHAT IS CAREER ADVISORY?
Career Advisory is a counseling process that aims to help individuals develop awareness about their own career development, make decisions and plans, effectively manage this process in line with their interests, talents, and values, and better cope with uncertainty, indecision, change, and transitions throughout the process.
The main topics addressed in meetings with Career Advisors are:
- Building a personal career goal and making a plan.
- Developing self-awareness and an understanding of one's own strengths and weaknesses.
- Managing uncertainty and/or indecision related to career goals.
- Gaining information about job/internship search processes and techniques.
- Receiving information and support on CV preparation and interviews.
- Obtaining information and support on graduate education and an academic career.
- Getting recommendations on skills that will contribute to career development (e.g., language, communication, competency development).
- Managing anxiety and stress related to career issues.
- Getting advice on how to efficiently utilize one's student years in line with career goals.
- For those who have completed the Self-Assessment Inventory, reviewing the inventory results together.
